ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to dispose of the appeal preferred by the petitioner dated 30.09.2024, within a time frame as may be stipulated by this Court.

2. By consent, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

3. Both the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submit that the appropriate authority to decide the appeal against the orders of the Tahsildar is the Revenue Divisional Officer.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the appeal was sent through post to the District Revenue Officer/first respondent herein.

5. The learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents submits that any recommendation made by the Tahsildar will be acted upon by the Revenue Divisional Officer. Previously, an application was made for making corrections in the Field Measurement Book (FMB), which was rejected by the Tahsildar.

6. Since the recommendation made by the Tahsildar has to be decided by the Revenue Divisional Officer, and an appeal regarding changes in the FMB has also been filed before the Revenue Divisional Officer, Cheranmahadevi, Tirunelveli District, who was not made as a party to the present writ petition, the petitioner is directed to provide copies of the appeal in person to the said authority. Thereafter, the Revenue Divisional Officer, Cheranmahadevi, Tirunelveli District, is directed to dispose of the appeal on merits and in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible.
