PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st Respondent to consider and expedite the process of re-issuing passport to the Petitioner based on passport application dated 29.07.2025 bearing File No.TR1075405030825 for the period of ten years and thereby permit the Petitioner to travel abroad. ORDER
The present writ petition has been filed seeking a mandamus directing the first respondent to reissue the passport of the petitioner based upon his application dated 29.07.2025.

The learned Government Advocate(crl.side) appearing for the second respondent brought to the notice of the Court that the petitioner has been implicated in a criminal case in Cr.No.236 of 2017, on the file of the second respondent which has culminated in filing of the charge sheet in C.C.No.18 of 2023 on the file of the Judicial Magistrate, Pattukottai.
3. According to the learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the criminal case is pending due to an altercation between the father and the son and therefore, it is likely to be settled.
4. The petitioner herein has earlier approached this Court in W.P(MD)No. 21321 of 2023 seeking a mandamus for re-issuance of the passport. This Court by way of an order dated 01.09.2023 has passed orders directing the passport authorities to consider the request of the petitioner for renewal of the passport for a temporary period depending upon the requirements. Accordingly, the 2/5
passport was issued to the writ petitioner for a period of one year which had expired on 12.12.2025.
5. In view of the above said facts, the first respondent is directed to renew the passport for further period of one year and pass orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
