ORDER

This criminal original petition has been filed seeking to quash the case in S.C. No. 185 of 2024 on the file of the Fast Track Mahila Court, Kanyakumari @ Nagercoil.

2. When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner sought for adjournment citing senior counsel's illness.

3. However, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent police submitted that the present petition is liable to be dismissed at the threshold. It was contended that the case pertains to a serious and heinous offence, wherein the sister of the de facto complainant committed suicide as a result of harassment allegedly caused by the petitioner. The petitioner is the accused, who initiated contact with the victim online, obtained obscene photographs under the pretext of love, made a false promise of marriage, and thereafter deceiving her. It was further alleged that the petitioner subsequently exposed the victim's obscene photographs and videos in online platforms. In this connection, an FIR in Crime No.147 of 2021 has been registered against 2/4

the petitioner. In view of the gravity and heinous nature of the allegations, the learned Government Advocate sought dismissal of the petition.

4. Heard the learned counsel and perused the materials placed before this Court.

5. Considering the fact that the safety and security of women must be dealt with utmost seriousness by law enforcing agencies, this Court does not find any merit in interfering with the ongoing trial in S.C. No.185 of 2024 at this stage. In view of the same, this Criminal Original Petition fails and is accordingly dismissed. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
