O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition is filed seeking a direction to the respondents Nos. 1 and 2 to transfer the investigation in Crime No.957 of 2024 from the third respondent to some other police station in Thanjavur District, stipulated time fixed by this Court.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner had lodged a complaint to the third respondent police on 19.12.2024 seeking appropriate action with respect to the theft of agricultural machinery of the petitioner which was kept in his farm, due to which an FIR was registered in Crime No. 957 of 2024. However, no further progress has been seen in the investigation and hence, sought transfer of investigation.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side), Mr.M.Sakthi Kumar, on instructions, submitted that the respondent police found no Page No. 2 of 5

merits in the complaint made by the petitioner and hence, closed the same.

4. I have considered the submissions made on both sides and perused the materials.

5. This Court is of the considered view that none of the farmers would give a false complaint with regard to the theft of their agricultural devices. The farmers being the backbone of this society, the respondent police ought to have diligently dealt with the case. Considering the same, the third respondent police is directed to reopen the case and to conduct a diligent investigation. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Papanasam Circle, is directed to monitor the same and the third respondent is directed to appraise the progress in the investigation every weekend.
