O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the second respondent to take necessary action on the petitioner's complaint dated 24.11.2025 and to conclude the same within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that one Parameswari, who is working in the State Bank of India, Tirumangalam Branch, approached the petitioner with an offer to invest money under a Pension Scheme. Believing her representation, the petitioner deposited the amount under the said scheme. However, the bank officials wrongly invested the said amount in an SBI Life Insurance policy, which came to the knowledge of the petitioner subsequently. Though the said policy was later cancelled, the amount was allotted in the name of the petitioner's son, who is arrayed as the third respondent herein. At present, the petitioner's son has refused to return the said amount to the petitioner.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) submitted that since the petitioner is a senior citizen, he has to approach the 2/5

Revenue Divisional Officer by invoking the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, and not the respondent police.

In view of the above submission, this Writ Petition (Criminal) is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to approach the Revenue Divisional Officer by invoking the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Upon receipt of such representation, the Revenue Divisional Officer, Tirumangalam, Madurai District, shall consider and dispose of the same in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks thereafter.

5. With the above directions, this writ petition (Criminal) is disposed of.
