O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to issue patta to the petitioner in respect of his property in Survey No.197/8, measuring an extent of 0.24.0 hectares, situated at K.Parakkulam Village, Melamarunkoor Panchayat, Vannikudi Group, Kalaiyarkovil Taluk, Sivagangai District, under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Patta Pass Book Act, 1983, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 09.10.2025, within a stipulated time as may be fixed by this Court.

2. With the consent of the parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner has been in possession and enjoyment of the subject property for the past 30 years and has constructed a house in the year 2005; that the petitioner has been paying all statutory taxes; that the Page No. 2 of 5

electricity service connection stands in his name; that the petitioner submitted a petition in person on 10.07.2024 and another representation dated 09.10.2025 seeking issuance of patta in the petitioner's name; that however, the respondents have not considered the petitioner's request; and that therefore the petitioner was constrained to file the present Writ Petition.

4. The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that the petitioner's petition dated 10.07.2024 and representation dated 09.10.2025 would be considered and appropriate orders would be passed within a period of twelve weeks.

5. Recording the above submission and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the second respondent to consider the petitioner's petition dated 10.07.2024 and representation dated 09.10.2025 on its merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petition and the representation shall be considered and disposed of after conducting an enquiry. The second respondent is also directed to provide a reasonable Page No. 3 of 5

opportunity during such enquiry to the petitioner and any other interested parties who may be affected by the decision. In the event of any rival claims, the parties are at liberty to pursue their remedies before the Civil Court. There shall be no order as to costs.
