ORDER

The petitioner's father one E.Mohammed Sadiq, who rendered 33 years of service in the Southern Railway Unit, retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation on 31.03.1994 and died on 09.11.1997. Thereafter, the family pension was provided to the petitioner's mother, Kathija Bee, and she also died on 26.01.2025. The 2/6

petitioner is a widowed daughter and therefore, she is eligible for family pension. When she approached the respondents claiming family pension, she came to know that in the pension payment order, her mother's name has been wrongly recorded as Kaliza Bibi instead of Kathija Bee. Therefore, she submitted a representation dated 30.11.2025 to the respondents seeking to amend her mother's name as Kathija Bee instead of Kaliza Bibi in the pension payment order. However, the said representation has not been considered by the respondents. Therefore, the petitioner is before this Court.

2. Mr.S.Sivakumar, learned Senior Central Government Standing Counsel submits that the proper authority to amend the name of the petitioner's mother in the pension payment order is the Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, Southern Railway, Railway Junction West Gate,

3. In view of the said submission, the Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, Southern Railway, Railway Junction West Gate, Madurai, is suo motu impleaded as a party to this writ petition and the learned Senior 3/6

Central Government Standing Counsel is directed to take notice for the newly respondent.

Considering the relief sought for in this writ petition, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, Southern Railway, to verify the documents and amend the petitioner's mother's name in the pension payment order, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
