O R D E R
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to correct the measurement in the FMB relating to Survey No.109/27B7, situated at Serubalakkadu Village and Post, Peravurani Taluk, Thanjavur District, based on the petitioner's representations dated 24.09.2025 and 14.10.2025, within the time to be stipulated by this Court.
2. With the consent of the parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3. The case of the petitioner is that the property in Survey No. 109/27B7, situated at Serubalakkadu Village and Post, Peravurani Taluk, Thanjavur District, belongs to the petitioner, who inherited the same from his father by way of a settlement deed. The southern side measurement of Page No. 2 of 6
the said survey has been shown as 8.0 metres and 14.4 metres instead of 11.2 metres and 14.4 metres. Due to the said mistake, the adjacent land in Survey No.109/27B6 has been shown with excess area than its original measurement on the southern side as 13.2 metres and 8.0 metres. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 24.09.2025 to the first respondent seeking correction of measurement in the Field Measurement Book (FMB). However, the first respondent has not taken any steps. Therefore, the petitioner sent another representation dated 14.10.2025, which also did not evoke any response. Hence, the petitioner was constrained to file the present Writ Petition.
4. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that the Revenue Divisional Officer is the competent authority for effecting correction in the Field Measurement Book (FMB), who is not a party to this Writ Petition; and that the petitioner's representations dated 24.09.2025 and 14.10.2025 would be considered and appropriate orders would be passed within a period of twelve weeks.

5. In view of the above, the Revenue Divisional Officer, Pattukottai Revenue Division, Thanjavur District, is suo motu impleaded as the fourth respondent. Without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the fourth respondent to consider the petitioner's representations dated 24.09.2025 and 14.10.2025 on their merits and in accordance with law and to pass appropriate orders within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The first respondent shall forward the said representations to the fourth respondent within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioner may also furnish copies of the said representations to the fourth respondent forthwith.
The representations shall be considered and disposed of after conducting an enquiry. The fourth respondent is further directed to afford a reasonable opportunity of hearing during such enquiry to the petitioner, adjacent landowners and any other interested parties who may be affected by the decision. There shall be no order as to costs. [K.SURENDER, J.] 05.01.2026 JEN Index : Yes / No Page No.
