O R D E R

The instant Writ Petition has been filed by a retired employee of the Transport Department seeking a mandamus for the payment of interest on the belated disbursal of terminal benefits.

2. According to the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, though the petitioner had attained superannuation on 31.01.2023, the terminal benefits were released belatedly only on 30.10.2024. Seeking interest, the petitioner sent a representation dated 13.11.2024 to the respondents. Since there is no response from the respondents, the present Writ Petition has been filed.

3. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents.

4. Considering the fact that the terminal benefits were released belatedly, the respondents are directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% per Page No. 2 of 4

annum from the date of his retirement till the date of disbursal of the terminal benefits, within a period of 12 (twelve) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
