O R D E R
The instant Writ Petition has been filed by a retired employee of the Transport Department seeking a mandamus for the payment of interest on the belated disbursal of terminal benefits.
2. According to the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, though the petitioner attained superannuation on 28.02.2023, the terminal benefits were released belatedly only on 30.10.2024. Seeking interest, the petitioner sent a representation dated 09.12.2024 to the respondent. Since there is no response from the respondent, the present Writ Petition has been filed.
3. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent.
4. Considering the fact that the terminal benefits were released belatedly, the respondent is directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum from the date of his retirement till the date of disbursal of the terminal benefits, within a period of 12 (twelve) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
