Petitioner is alleged to have committed the offence under Section 364A of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. The prosecution case is that he along with the co-accused abducted the victim and kept him in confinement demanding ransom. The accused received certain amount from the relatives of the victim. Thereafter, they released him in a vehicle in which they kept a certain quantity of Ganja also.

Learned counsel submits that taking into account the period of custody, the petitioner may be granted bail. It is true that he has been in custody since 13.05.2015. The offences alleged to have been committed by him are very serious. He is involved in 12 other criminal cases. I am not satisfied that if he is released on bail, he will not commit offences again. There is also a likelihood of his intimidating or influencing the witnesses.
