This appeal is filed by the petitioner in the writ petition, challenging the judgment dated 28.1.2015.

The writ petition has been filed seeking to quash Exts.P3, P7 and P9 and for a direction to respondents to accede to the request of the petitioner on the basis of the application filed by her. The issue involved in the Writ petition was relating to the request of the petitioner for registration and award of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, as per notification dated 1.7.2010. According to the petitioner, the notification provided that after one year of regular full-time research in the University Department, a

W.A. No. 654/2015 -2student could opt for conversion of the research programme to part-time, which was denied to the petitioner by the university. This was the scope of challenge. The learned Single Judge disposed of the writ petition indicating that the petitioner shall file necessary application within one month and the University shall consider the same within three months thereafter.

A statement has been filed by the University inter alia stating that the request of the appellant has been considered by the University and it has been decided to convert her full-time registration into part-time with effect from 19.6.2013 on remitting the re-registration fee and the University has decided to initiate steps to grant her the parttime registration with effect from the said date.

Having regard to the aforesaid statement made by the University, the learned counsel for the petitioner submits that there is no reason to proceed with the writ appeal since the writ appeal has become infructuous.
