--------------------------------------- W.P.(c) No. 4515 of 2015 & W.P. (C) No. 4516 of 2015 ---------------------------------------- Dated this the 20th day of February, 2015

JUDGMENT

The petitioners in the above captioned writ petitions have a common grievance that their applications for renewal of D&O licence has so far not been considered by the respondent Grama Panchayat. Since they have got a common grievance against the same set of respondents, this Court is proposed to dispose of both the writ petitions together through a common judgment.

2. It appears that the D&O licence issued to the petitioners earlier by the respondent Grama Panchayat came to an end by 31.01.2015, when the petitioners are said to have applied for renewal thereof. Ventilating their grievance that their applications have so far not been disposed of, they have filed the present writ petitions.

3. The learned counsel for the respondent Grama Panchayat has submitted that in view of certain unavoidable

W.P.(c) Nos. 4515 & 4516/15 administrative exigencies, the second respondent could not consider the applications expeditiously. On instructions, he has submitted that the second respondent is willing to consider the applications filed by the petitioners for renewal of D&O licence at the earliest.

4. In the facts and circumstances, having regard to the respective submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned Standing Counsel for the respondent Panchayat, this Court, without adverting to the merits of the matter, disposes of the present writ petition with a direction to the second respondent to consider the applications filed by the petitioners for renewal of D&O licence in accordance with law, and pass appropriate orders thereon, as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.

With the above observation, these writ petitions are disposed of. No order as to costs.
