JUDGMENT
Shaffique, J.
The petitioner is an Arts and Sports Club. The petitioner has approached this Court alleging Police harassment. It is inter alia submitted that when the members of the Club play rummy in the Club, which is not a gambling, nor in violation of the provisions of the Gambling Act, the members of the Club are threatened by the Police that they will be prosecuted for non-bailable offences.
2. The averments in the Writ Petition do not disclose that there is any sort of harassment by the Police officers. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that on a dayto-day basis the Police officers are coming to the Club and harassing the members. But there is no such allegation in the Writ Petition. That apart, the Police is entitled to verify
WP(C).6067/15 whether any gambling activities are being carried on in the Club.
3. Under such circumstances, we do not think that there is any police harassment. If at all there is police action in excess of what is required, it is always open for the petitioner to file appropriate complaint before the competent authorities.
With the above observation, the Writ Petition is closed.
