J U D G M E N T
The petitioner has approached this Court with the following prayers:
"i) Issue a writ of mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction, commanding and compelling the respondents, to grant distress journalists' pension to the petitioner;
ii) Issue a writ of mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction, directing the 1st respondent to consider and pass orders on Ext.P5, pending before it within a stipulated period of time; iii) Issue such other writ, order or direction as this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper, for the ends of justice."

Heard the learned Government Pleader as well. 3.
Considering the limited extent of relief sought for, this Court does not find it necessary to go into the merits of the case. The writ petition is disposed of, directing the 1st respondent to consider and pass appropriate orders on Ext.P5, in the light of Ext.P3 report and such other relevant materials, if any. It shall be done, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, at the earliest, at any rate, within three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
