JUDGMENT

Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan, J.

This writ petition stands with the cause of action referable to the Thrissur Pooram which is already over. Yet, we think that rather than grant leave to the petitioner to withdraw the writ petition with liberty to file afresh, we would consider the questions raised as being live.

The petitioner pleads that the advice of the Thanthri against use of footwear inside the Chuttambalam should be strictly enforced. The festivities in relation to the Thrissur Pooram, including the Ezhunnallathu and Melam happen outside the Chuttambalam. It is part of religious practice that footwear is not permitted to be used inside the Chuttambalam. The Cochin Devaswom Board will strictly adhere to this prescription unless otherwise advised by the Thanthri. The writ petition is ordered accordingly.
