Petitioner is the General Convener of Mannar Mahatma Gandhi Boat Race, 2015. He has approached this Court seeking for police protection inter alia stating that during the boat race, there is every chance of miscreants creating law and order situation. According to the petitioner, unless sufficient police force is deployed for the aforesaid boat race, there is every chance for such miscreants to disturb the boat race and thereby cause law and order problem. Petitioner had given a complaint to the police authorities but apprehends that the police may not deploy sufficient force for taking care of any untoward incident during the boat race.

2.

Learned State Attorney, on instructions, would submit that sufficient police force will be deployed to ensure that the boat race is conducted peacefully and that no untoward incident

W.P(C) No.23930/2015 -:2:- occurs. He submits that during the previous years also, sufficient police force had been deployed and there is no reason for any apprehension as such.
