JUDGMENT

The question of extension of the life span of stage carriages to a period beyond 15 years is engaging the attention of the 1st respondent. The petitioner association contends that the life span can be extended at least upto 20 years in view of the advent of technology.

2.

The learned Government Pleader on the other hand contends that the period has to be reduced below 15 years demonstrable by the innumerable issue of clearance certificates. Reliance is also placed on Exts.R2(b), R2(c) and R2(d) judgments as regards the entitlement of the 1st respondent to fix the life span.

3.

I direct the 1st respondent to take the proceedings to a logical end within a period of two months from today. The same shall be done with notice to the petitioner after adverting to the contentions afore stated.

The writ petition is disposed of.
