JUDGMENT

The writ petitioner herein seeks a writ of mandamus directing the police to register a crime on her complaint. Now, it is submitted by the learned Public Prosecutor that on the Ext.P1 complaint filed by the writ petitioner, the Kannur Town Police has already registered a crime as Crime No.202/2015, and that investigation is in progress. In the present situation, the learned counsel for the petitioner seeks a direction to the police to complete the investigation within a time frame. It would be inappropriate to give such direction at this stage. However, the police can be directed to expedite the investigation. Accordingly, the submission made by the learned Public Prosecutor is recorded, and the writ petition is closed with a direction to the police to expedite investigation in the crime, and submit final report at the earliest.
