JUDGMENT

Petitioners application for renewal of arms licence has been rejected stating that there is no threat to the life of the petitioners and also on the ground that the petitioners are engaged as Security Guard and they do not require such gun.

This Court in several judgments held that the arms licence can be rejected only in accordance with Section 14 of the Arms Act. The grounds referred as above are not referrable to Section 14 of the Arms Act.

In view of the above, the impugned order is set aside. There shall be a direction to the first respondent to renew the arms licence to the petitioners within three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.

The writ petition is disposed of as above.
