We have heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Advocate Commissioner who is handling the affairs in connection with different matters touching the Vaikom Mahadeva Temple including the Vaikathashtami Darshan which is due to start at 4.30 a.m. on 3.12.2015. The previous night has different other rituals including Vilakku. The petitioner points out that the queue system which was in place during the previous years was wholly unmanageable and, therefore, there must be a new system in place. He has placed his views in the form of a sketch. The petitioner lives in the neighbourhood of the temple. He says that he is a frequenter to that temple. If that were so, wisdom should have dawned on him to come to this Court sufficiently early even if the
WPC.NO.36159/15 Travancore Devaswom Board authorities are not considering any alternatives. At this distance of time, we do not think that any direction can be issued as sought for. The learned Advocate Commissioner who is present says that necessary steps have been taken for proper crowd management. We record the submission and direct the Superintendent of Police having jurisdiction over Vaikom area to ensure that adequate police support is given for the smooth Vaikathashtami Darshan. The petitioner's suggestions may be a matter for consideration by the Travancore Devaswom Board and the Advocate Commissioner for future years. We leave open that issue and order the writ petition accordingly. Sd/- (THOTTATHIL B.RADHAKRISHNAN, JUDGE) Sd/- (ANU SIVARAMAN, JUDGE) //TRUE COPY// P.A TO JUDGE DG
