This matter is taken up through hybrid mode.

Heard learned counsel for the Petitioner and learned counsel for the opposite parties.

This application under Section 482 of Cr.P.C. has been filed by the Petitioner to quash the criminal proceeding in connection with G.R. Case No.550 of 1990 arising out of Jagatsinghpur P.S. Case No.235 of 1990 pending in the court of learned S.D.J.M., Jagatsinghpur. The offences alleged are punishable under Sections 143/448/427/294 IPC and Section 3 of the P.D.P.P Act.

This matter relates to nationwide agitation with regard to reservation of backward class basing on the report of the Mandal Commission.

Learned counsel for the Petitioner submits that in the meanwhile many such cases have been withdrawn, which is not disputed by the learned counsel for the State. 6.

Considering the facts and the submissions made, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose is going to be served by keeping the matter pending. Accordingly, this Court directs that the prosecution launched against the Petitioner in the aforesaid case stands closed. The trial court shall do well to comply with this order on production of the certified copy of the same.

Urgent certified copy of this order be granted on proper application.
