The matter is taken up through hybrid mode.

2. Heard Mr. S. Behera, learned counsel for the petitioner.

3. Mr. S. Behera, learned counsel for the petitioner contended that the petitioner, who was working as Deputy Director (Demographic & Statistics) in the office of the Director of Family Welfare, Odisha, is subjected to a disciplinary proceeding. After initiation of the said proceeding, show-cause was called for from the petitioner. Accordingly, he submitted his reply, but till date no decision has been taken. In the meantime, he has retired from service w.e.f. 30.04.2018 and though four years have passed in the meantime, he has not been extended the retirement benefit because of pendency of such proceeding.

4. In that view of the matter, this Court disposes of the writ petition with a direction to opposite party no.1 to

conclude the departmental proceeding initiated against the petitioner within a period of six months, if there is no impediment, from the date of communication/production of this order.

5. Issue urgent certified copy as per rules.
