This matter is taken up through hybrid arrangement Order No.

(virtual/physical mode).

The Appellant, by filing this appeal, under section 14-A of the SC & ST (POA) Act, 1989 has prayed for his release on bail in Special Case No.246/386 of 2017 pending trial in the Court of the learned Special Judge (SC & ST), Balasore for offences punishable under sections 302, I.P.C. read with section 3(2)(v) of the S.C. & S.T. (POA) Act.

Heard learned counsel for the Appellant and learned counsel for the State.

Considering the submissions made and on going through the materials on record; further keeping in view the surrounding circumstances; while at this stage being not inclined to consider the prayer for grant of bail to the Appellant; this Appeal is disposed of with a direction that the trial court would do well to take all effective steps as provided

// 2 // in law for conclusion of trial as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of five months hence. It is needless to observe that in the event, within the period, the trial is not concluded, the Appellant if so advised may renew his prayer for reconsideration of the prayer for grant of bail.
