1.This petition had been entertained on the basis of a news article published in The Telegraph on 13th November, 2013 regarding non-availability of Raw silk for the traditional weavers in the State.
2. Pursuant to the notice issued, a counter affidavit was filed by the National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd. (NHDC) on 3rd March, 2014 explaining the system of supply of yarn through Raw Material Banks and the Primary Weavers Co-operative Societies Depots. Inter alia, it is stated that no complaint has been received from any corner by the NHDC that the yarn is not available in loose form for the requirement of handloom weavers.
3. In view of the above affidavit, the Court does not consider it
// 2 // necessary to continue with the present petition. This will however not prevent any affected Weaver Co-operative Society approaching the Court for relief, if the problem persists.
4. The writ petition is disposed of in the above terms.
