ORDER (Oral) 18.04.2022 06.

1. This matter is taken up through virtual/physical mode.

2. The petitioner is a defaulting borrower of a personal loan availed from UCO Bank, Nimapara Branch on 1st December, 2006 for a sum of Rs.1 lakh. Due to financial indiscipline, the loan account was declared NPA on 30th September, 2014. It emerges that around that time the total outstanding amount was Rs.3,11,679/-.

3. By filing the present writ petition, a direction has been sought for settling the amount under an OTS Scheme, without specifying any ongoing/prevailing OTS policy.

4. At the time of previous hearings and as on today, Mr. Swapnil Roy, learned proxy counsel states that in spite of efforts, the office has not been able to contact the petitioner.

5. On the other hand, learned counsel for the Bank states that vide Memo dated 13th April, 2022 addressed to the petitioner at his known address, an offer has been made for settling the outstanding liabilities by deposit of Rs.1,25,000/- within thirty days from the date of the letter. He thus submits that much more than what has been claimed in the petition, the Bank has offered concession to the petitioner.

6. In view of the above, we find that nothing more survives in the present writ petition. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of.
