1. Two very different issues have been sought to be combined in this writ petition, which is framed as a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) at the behest of a resident of Village/Post-Karanji in Cuttack District. One is regarding realignment of the Rengali Right Major Canal by connecting it to the existing Badabandha Minor Irrigation Project. A direction is sought to the Opposite Parties i.e. the Water Resources Department in this regard.

2. As far as this prayer is concerned, the Court lacks the necessary expertise or the competence to issue directions in this regard. The relief has to be sought elsewhere.

3. The other relief sought is for effective steps to be taken by the Opposite Parties "for protecting the aforesaid village and areas from elephant attacks and other wild animals and prevent further loss of life and property."

4. As far as this prayer is concerned, this Court is already seized of it in other similar PILs and does not propose to multiply them. Those PILs are being taken up by this Court on regular basis. Consequently, the Court is not inclined to entertain the present petition and it is disposed of as such.
