Heard Mr. S.P. Dhal, learned counsel for the petitioners and Mr. D.K. Mohanty, learned Additional Standing Counsel. 2.

According to Mr. Dhal, the grievances of the petitioners in this case pertain to non-registration of their complaint dated 15.04.2022 under Annexure-1 as F.I.R. by I.I.C., Talabania Police Station (opposite party no.3). Against such inaction, though the petitioners have approached the Superintendent of Police, Puri (opposite party no.2) by sending a grievance petition dated 28.4.2022 under Annexure-2 through Speed Post 29.4.2022, however, till date no action has been taken on the same. In such background, he prays that necessary direction be given to the opposite party no.2 to take a decision on the said grievance petition within a specific time period.

Considering the submissions made and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this Court directs the Superintendent of Police, Puri (opposite party no.2) to take a decision on the grievance petition dated

// 2 // 28.4.2022 under Annexure-2 in accordance with law keeping in the mind the decision of the Supreme Court in the case of Lalita Kumari v. Govt. of U.P. & Others reported in AIR 2014 SC 187 within a period of four weeks from the date of production of certified copy of this order, if in the meantime, the same has not been already disposed of. The petitioners are directed to supply copies of the complaint under Annexure-1 as well as grievance petition under Annexure-2 to the Superintendent of Police, Puri while presenting a certified copy of this order. Opposite party no.2 is directed to communicate the result of such exercise to petitioner no.1, who in turn share such information with the other petitioners. 5.

The CRLMP is accordingly disposed of.

Issue urgent certified copy of this order on proper application.
