Heard Mr. Ranjit Mohanty, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr. D.K. Mohanty, learned Additional Standing Counsel.

According to Mr. Mohanty, the petitioner is aggrieved by the tardy manner in which investigation is going on in connection with Patkura P.S. Case No.110 dated 21.3.2022 registered for commission of offences under Sections 341/294/323/307/376/511/354-B/34, I.P.C. In this context, he draws attention of this Court to Sub-Section 1-A of Section 173 of the Cr.P.C., which makes it clear that the investigation in relation to the offence under Section 376 of I.P.C. shall be completed within two months from the date on which information was recorded by the I.I.C., of the Police Station. In such background, he prays that a direction be issued to the I.I.C., Patkura Police Station (Opp. Party No.3) to complete the investigation within a specific time period. 3.
Mr. Mohanty, learned Additional Standing Counsel fairly submits the Investigating Officer is duty bound to complete
// 2 // the investigation within the time as has been indicated in the above noted provision but prays for some more time to complete the investigation.

Considering the submissions made, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this Court directs the I.I.C., Patkura Police Station (opposite party No.3) to complete the investigation in connection with the above noted case within a period of six weeks from the date of production of a copy of this order, if there is no other impediment. 5.
Accordingly, this CRLMP is disposed of.

Urgent certified copy of this order be granted on proper application.
