In an unfortunate incident, four college going students went to the river and drowned. Petitioners are parents of one of the students. Mr. Jena, learned advocate appears on their behalf and submits, exgratia of Rs.4 lakhs was paid in respect of one of the victims. 2.

Mr. Patnaik, learned advocate, Additional Standing Counsel appears on behalf of State and hands up order dated 11th August, 2022 made by this Bench in W.P.(C) no.14023 of 2015 (Pranati Dash and another v. State of Orissa and others) to submit, the order bears record that ex-gratia was paid to one of the students. He submits, the amount was Rs.4 lakhs.

State will pay petitioners Rs.4 lakhs as ex-gratia, within three weeks of communication. Since ex-gratia has already been paid in

respect of one of the victims, Court expects the payment tobe made within the time directed. In such expectation further direction for interest on delayed payment is not being made. 4.

Mr. Jena prays for liberty to his clients to approach civil Court for further compensation. There is no necessity for the prayer since the payment is ex-gratia.

The writ petition is disposed of.
