Heard Mr. Upendra Kumar Samal, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr. A.R. Dash, learned Additional Government Advocate.

According to Mr. Samal, late father of the petitioner lost his land which was acquired under Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition and Development) Act, 1957 and after death of her father on 06.01.2011 vide Letter dated 21.02.2014 under Annexure-3, the Area Survey Officer, Lakhanpur Area issued a notice under Sections 12 & 17 of the above noted Act in the name of her father asking him to receive the compensation amount. Since by that time, father of the petitioner was already dead and she being the only child, she approached the authority several times for getting the compensation. When these did not yield any result, she finally submitted a grievance petition dated 27.07.2021 under Annexure-4 before the Managing Director, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, Sambalpur (Opposite Party No.1)
// 2 // through Speed Post on the same date. However till date no decision has been taken on the same and on such ground, Mr. Samal prays that a direction be issued to the opposite party no.1 to take a decision on such representation within a specific time period.

Considering the submissions made and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this Court directs the Managing Director, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, Sambalpur (Opposite Party No.1) to take a decision on the above noted representation of the petitioner under Annexure-4 in accordance with law within a period of three months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order and communicate the result of such exercise to the petitioner. 4.
The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. 5.
Urgent certified copy of the order be granted on proper application.
