1. This matter is taken up through video conferencing.
2. Heard Mr. P.K. Tripathy, learned counsel for the Appellants.
3. The Defendants are the Appellants.
4. The suit was for damages on account of death of the deceased due to electrocution. Learned trial court granted compensation to the tune of Rs.10,00,000/- along with interest @6% per annum from the date of filing of the suit. The First Appellate Court has confirmed the decree of the learned trial court with elaborate discussions. The learned trial court has also determined the amount keeping in view the principles decided in Smt. Sarla Verma and others vs. Delhi Transport Corporation and another, (2009) 6 SCC 121. The Defendants did not adduce any evidence.
5. Having perused the judgments of the learned trial court as well as learned First Appellate Court and upon hearing Mr. Tripathy,
neither any substantial question of law nor any merit in favour of the Appellants is found.
6. Accordingly, no ground is seen for admitting the appeal and the same is dismissed.
7. As the restrictions due to resurgence of COVID-19 situation are continuing, learned counsel for the parties may utilize a printout of the order available in the High Court's website, at par with certified copy, subject to attestation by the concerned advocate, in the manner prescribed vide Court's Notice No.4587, dated 25th March, 2020 as modified by Court's Notice No.4798, dated 15th April, 2021 and Court's Office Order circulated vide Memo No.514, dated 7th January, 2022.
