Heard learned Sr. Counsel for the petitioner and learned Addl. Standing Counsel for the State.

This the second journey of the petitioner to this Court after his earlier application for bail was rejected as per order passed by this Court in BLAPL No. 3061 of 2022. I find no change in circumstances warranting a different view to be taken now. As such, the bail application stands rejected.

However, learned trial court is directed to expedite the trial and to conclude the same as early as possible, preferably within a period of six months.

Before parting with the case it is observed that prayer has been made by the I.O. to keep the identity and statements of witnesses named Mr. 'A' and Mr. 'B'. confidential under the provisions laid down under Section 173(6) of Cr.P.C. from being provided to the accused persons under Section 207 Cr.P.C. 6.

It is submitted by Mr. Dhal, learned Sr. Counsel that unless the accused is given copies of the statements of the said witnesses it would greatly prejudice the defence.

Without expressing any opinion in this regard, liberty is granted to the petitioner to submit appropriate application before the court below seeking necessary relief, which needless to say, shall be considered in accordance with law.

BLAPL is accordingly rejected.
