Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned counsel for the State.

The petitioner is the student of Class-IX of Ravenshaw Collegiate School, Cuttack. It is claimed that the name of her mother is Anjali Behera, but has been wrongly mentioned as Latika Behera in the school records. In support of his contentions, the petitioner has enclosed the copy of Aadhaar Card of her mother which shows her name as Anjali Behera. The mother of the petitioner has sworn an affidavit before the Executive Magistrate, Cuttack stating that at the time of admission to the school, her nick name, namely, "Latika Behera" has been wrongly mentioned in the school certificate. It is submitted that this affidavit was placed before the School authorities with request to effect necessary changes in the school register. However, the same was turned down. Since the school authorities are competent to take a decision

in this regard, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, the writ petition is disposed of granting liberty to the petitioner to approach the school authority, particularly opposite party no. 3 by submitting a representation supported by all necessary documents within a period of two weeks. If such a representation is filed, the opposite party no.3 shall consider the same in accordance with law and pass a reasoned order within a period of two weeks thereafter.
