This matter is taken up through hybrid arrangement.

Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned counsel for the State.

Pursuant to order dated 09.12.2022, Sri Saroj Kumar Biswal (opposite party no.6) appears in person before this Court through virtual mode.

The opposite party no.6, who has the erstwhile Superintendent of Jharpara Special Jail, is now posting at Bijupattnaik Open Air Ashram at Jamujhari, Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar. The allegation against him is that he is in the habit of assaulting the UTPs in Jharpara Special Jail.

// 2 // This allegation is very serious and it requires a thorough investigation.

In such view of the matter, the Director General of Police (Prison), Odisha is directed to conduct an enquiry through his subordinate officer about the above incident and submit a report before this Court positively by 17.01.2023.

List this matter on 17th of January, 2023.

A free copy of this order be supplied to the learned counsel for the State for onward transmission and compliance.
