This matter is taken up through Hybrid Arrangement (Virtual/Physical Mode).

Heard learned counsel for the parties.

This is an application under Section 439 of the Code of Criminal Procedure filed by the Petitioner for bail in connection with Jharsuguda P.S.Case No.435 of 2021, corresponding to C.T.(Spl) No.42 of 2021, pending in the Court of the learned Special Judge, Jharsuguda for alleged commission of offence under Sections 20(b)(ii)(c)/25/29 of N.D.P.S.Act.

Learned Counsel for the Petitioner does not want to press this application at this juncture. However he prays for a direction to the trial court to expedite the trial.

Accordingly, the bail application stands disposed of as withdrawn. However, the trial court is directed to expedite the trial and conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of four months from the date of production of certified copy of
// 2 // this order. The Petitioner is granted liberty to move bail application afresh if the trial is not concluded within the aforesaid period of four months.

With the aforesaid observation the bail application stands disposed of.
