Heard Mr. S.K. Das, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr. S.N. Nayak, learned Additional Standing Counsel for the State. 4.
The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking direction to the opposite parties to release the maternity leave salary of the petitioner for the period from 01.08.2019 to 31.01.2020.

Since the maternity leave of the petitioner for the period 01.08.2019 to 31.01.2020 has not been paid, she had moved the Labour Commissioner. The District Labour Commissioner, Mayurbhanj issued a letter on 29.10.2021 under Annexure-5, whereby direction was given to the Registrar, Maharaja Sri Ram Chandra Bhanja Deo University to make payment to the complaint within 15 days of receipt of the letter, failing which necessary prosecution under Section 21
(1) of the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 shall be initiated against him. 6.
In view of the above, it is open to the petitioner to pursue her remedy in terms of the aforesaid provision.
