This matter is taken up through Hybrid Arrangement (Virtual/Physical Mode).

Mr. D. Nayak, learned Addl. Government Advocate has produced a report with a compact disc relating to the victim, whose name we withhold for purpose of protecting her identity. The report has been authenticated by the IIC, Banapur Police Station. It appears that therefrom an amicable settlement has been arrived at in respect of the daughter of the petitioner. The petitioner has, as reported, withdrawn the allegation of abduction.

It has been stated in the said report that on 12.11.2002, the petitioner, Urabasi Das, appeared in the Banapur PS and complained that her daughter [the victim] has been abducted and taken to Bangalore in order to engage her in the contract work. In order to get back her daughter, she had filed this petition. But, now, it is apparent that her daughter is living at her own house along with the minor child. In the emerged circumstances, the petitioner is not interested to proceed further. In this regard, an application has been filed by the

petitioner on 14.11.2022. Mr. J. Behera, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner is unaware of the above development. After scrutiny of the report of the said police officer and the statement that has been made by the petitioner in the said application, he has fairly submitted that this proceeding may be closed as infructuous. 4.

Accordingly, this proceeding stands closed and disposed of as infructous.
