Heard Mr. L. Pradhan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr. D.K. Mohanty, learned Additional Standing Counsel. 2.

According to Mr. Pradhan, the petitioner happens to be a landless person. Though he has applied for settlement of a piece of government land in his favour vide application dated 21.01.2022 under Annexure-2 before the Tahasildar, Mahakalapada (opposite party no.3), however, till date no decision has been taken on the same. He further submits that though against such inaction he has also approached the Collector, Kendrapara on 25.03.2022 vide Annexure-3, the same has also not yielded any result. In such background, he prays that a direction be issued to opp. party no.3 to take a decision on his application for settlement of land under Annexure-2 within a specific time period.

Considering the submissions made and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this Court directs the Tahasildar, Mahakalapada (opposite party no.3) to take a decision on the above mentioned application in accordance with law, within a period of three months from the date of receipt of certified copy of

this order and communicate the result of such exercise to the petitioner.

The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. 5.

Urgent certified copy of the order be granted on proper application.
