1. The matter is taken up through hybrid mode. Order No.

The applicant-petitioner is eligible to appear for the post of Sub-Inspector of Police as per the eligibility criteria fixed by the Orissa Staff Selection Commission, pursuant to the advertisement. However, he does not meet the criterion of age. The applicant challenges the age limit of 25 years fixed by the OSSC in the advertisement for the aforesaid post.

3. The grievance of the petitioner is that no examination for the post of Sub-Inspector of Police has been conducted in the past two years. A large number of backlog vacancy from 2008 also persists. Nevertheless, an arbitrary age criterion has been fixed vide the aforesaid advertisement which is based on nonapplication of mind.

4. Since the advertisement was of the year, 2013 and the recruitment process must have ended by now, the grievance

// 2 // does not seem to be surviving. Learned counsel for the State also submits that on self-same grievance, the similarly situated persons also approached the Orissa Administrative Tribunal in O.A.(C) No.619/2014, which has been dismissed on 10.01.2014.

5. In view of such facts, the writ petition is infructuous and disposed of as such.
