Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Additional Standing Counsel for the State.

The petitioner is in custody since 12.08.2020 in connection with Damanjodi P.S. Case No. 65 of 2020 corresponding to T.R. Case No. 46 of 2020 pending in the court of learned Additional Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge, Koraput for the alleged commission of offence under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C)/25/29 of NDPS Act.

Having regard to the fact that the seized contraband is more than commercial quantity weighing 374 kgs 880 grams of ganja, I am not inclined to allow the prayer for bail, which is therefore rejected. However, as the petitioner is in custody since 12.08.2020, the court below is directed to expedite the trial and to conclude the
same within a period of eight months.

The BLAPL is accordingly rejected.
