This matter is taken up through video conferencing mode. 2.

Heard Mr. J.K. Majhi, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr. Zafarulla, learned Additional Standing Counsel. 3.

According to Mr. Majhi, the petitioner is aggrieved by the tardy manner in which investigation is progressing in connection with Singla P.S. Case No.104 dated 14.05.2021 registered for commission of offences under Sections 498-A/ 341/323/294/376/511/506/406/34 I.P.C read with Section 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 4.

In this context, Mr. Majhi relying on Sub-Section 1-A of Section 173 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 submits that the investigation in connection with offences under Section 376 I.P.C should be completed within two months from the date of on which the information was recorded by the Inspector-inCharge of the Police Station. In such background, he prays that a direction be issued to the I.I.C., Singla Police Station (opposite party No.2) to complete the investigation in connection with the

// 2 // above noted case within a specific time period. 5.

Mr. Zafarulla fairly submits that the Investigating Officer is duty bound to complete the investigation within the time as has been indicated in the above provision of law but prays for some more time to complete the investigation. 6.

Considering the submissions made and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this Court directs the I.I.C., Singla Police Station (opposite party No.2) to take all effective steps to complete the investigation in the above noted case within a period of six weeks from the date of production of a certified copy of this order in accordance with law if there is no other impediment.

Accordingly, the CRLMP is disposed of.

Urgent certified copy of this order be granted on proper application.

A free copy of this order be handed over to Mr. Zafarulla, learned Additional Standing Counsel for necessary communication and compliance.
