Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Additional Standing Counsel for the State.

The petitioner has been arrested in connection with Jagatpur P.S. Case No. 14 of 2018 corresponding to SPL G.R. Case No. 07 of 2018 pending in the court of learned Additional Sessions Judgecum-Special Court under POCSO Act, Cuttack for the alleged commission of offence under Section 376(2)(j) of IPC read with Section 4 of the POCSO Act.

Considering the nature of allegations and particularly, the age of the victim and the availability of materials prima facie to show the involvement of the petitioner in the alleged occurrence, I am not inclined to allow the prayer for bail, which is therefore rejected. Since it is submitted that the trial has progressed substantially with only the I.O. remaining to be examined, the learned court below is directed to ensure that the trial is concluded, as early as possible,

preferably within a period of three months from the date of production of copy of this order.

The BLAPL is accordingly disposed of.

As the restrictions due to resurgence of COVID-19 situation are continuing, learned counsel for the parties may utilize a printout of the order available in the High Court's website, at par with certified copy, subject to attestation by the concerned advocate, in the manner prescribed vide Court's Notice No.4587, dated 25th March, 2020, modified by Notice No.4798, dated 15th April, 2021, and Court's Office Order circulated vide Memo Nos. 514 and 515 dated 7th January, 2022.
