* * * * S.J. VAZIFDAR, C.J. (ORAL) This is a petition under Section 11 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 for the appointment of an arbitrator.

The respondents have no objection to the appointment of an arbitrator in respect of the disputes which have arisen in respect of a partnership firm i.e. respondent No. 3 in which respondents No. 1 and 2 are partners.

The petition is, therefore, disposed of by appointing Shri B.K. Mehta, former District and Sessions Judge, Punjab, as the sole arbitrator. The fees shall be as per the Chandigarh Arbitration Centre (CAC) (Administrative Cost and Arbitrators' Fees) Rules, 2014.

Considering the nature of the disputes, the parties ought to try and settle the matter through mediation. For that purpose, the arbitrator shall not enter upon reference upto and including 30.11.2017.
