* * * * S.J. VAZIFDAR, C.J. (ORAL) Both these petitions are filed under section 11(6) of the Arbitration & Conciliation Act, 1996 (for short 'the Act') for appointment of a sole arbitrator to adjudicate the disputes and differences between the parties.

The parties had admittedly entered into two contracts each of which is the subject matter of above two petitions. The disputes and differences have arisen between the parties in respect of both the contracts. The contracts are similar and have been entered into between the same parties. It would, however, be convenient to refer the disputes to the same learned arbitrator.

In the circumstances, both the petitions are disposed of by appointing Mr. Justice S.S.Sodhi, former Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, as the sole arbitrator in respect of each petition. Although the references may be heard at the same time or one after the other it is clarified that there shall be separate references and the learned arbitrator shall pass separate orders. The venue shall be the Chandigarh Arbitration Centre.
