The present petition has been filed under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of direction to the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of private respondents No.4 to 9.

Learned counsel for the petitioners inter alia contends that marriage of petitioner No.1 was solemnized with respondent No.7 on 05.06.2015 and two children were born out of the said wedlock. After marriage, they started living at Ambala. On 29.10.2023, respondent No.7 left her matrimonial home without disclosing any reason. Petitioner No.1 made numerous requests to respondent No.7 to joint her company back but instead of accepting the same, she threatened to involve him and his entire family in a false case. On 27.12.2023, petitioner No.2 along with other respectable persons went to the house of respondent No.7 to resolve the matter and take her back to matrimonial home but she did not give any heed to the same. It is further contended that petitioner No.1 and his family members are receiving continuous threat calls from Facebook Id of one PANKAJ KUMAR 2024.02.15 15:24 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document

Further, petitioners received a call from ASI Balwinder Singh from mobile No.9780002047 to appear before him on 07.01.2024 in a complaint filed by respondent No.7. The petitioners are living under continuous threat and therefore, they have given a representation dated 28.12.2023 (Annexure P-2) to respondent No.2 seeking protection of their life and liberty at the hands of private respondents but no action has been taken thereon so far.

It is further submitted that the petitioners will be satisfied in case the representation given by them is considered in a time bound manner and an appropriate order is taken thereon in accordance with law. 4.

Notice of motion to the official respondents only. 5.

Mr. Subhash Godara, Addl. A.G., Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice for the official respondents and submits that the State is duty bound to protect the life and liberty of its citizens and the representation of the petitioners will be considered by the official respondents as expeditiously as possible, in accordance with law.

Without commenting on merits of the case, I dispose of this petition with direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation of the petitioners (Annexure P-2) within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order and grant them protection, if there is any threat to their life and liberty. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any committed by them.
