* * * * S.J. VAZIFDAR, C.J. (ORAL) This is a petition under Section 11 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 for the appointment of an arbitrator.

The parties are unable to settle the matter even through the mediation of the Lok Adalat.

The arbitration agreement is admitted. Despite the arbitration clause, the parties have agreed that the reference be made to a sole arbitrator to be appointed by the Court and that the venue be either at Hoshiarpur or at Chandigarh as determined by the learned arbitrator.

The petition is, therefore, disposed of by appointing Mr. Justice G.C. Garg, a former Judge of this Court, as the sole arbitrator.
