Prayer in the present petition is for issuance of directions to the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the niece of the petitioner at the hands of the private respondents and for taking legal action against the said respondents in case FIR No. 220 dated 02.12.2023, registered at Police Station Dinanagar, District Gurdaspur, under Sections 363, 366, 323, 324, 427, 148 and 149 of the IPC. 2.

Inter alia contends that despite the registration of the FIR, the official respondents have not taken any action against the private respondents. The niece of the petitioner was kidnapped by the private respondents and till now she has not been rescued. 3.

A status report, dated 19.01.2024 by way of an affidavit of Sh. Aditya Warrier, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dinanagar, District Gurdaspur, has been filed in Court today by learned State counsel. The same is taken on record.

Learned counsel for the State contends that the investigation is being conducted and even during the investigation, respondent No. 7 namely Moju @ Bhollu has been arrested on 26.12.2023. As per the MLR, three injuries were found on the person of the petitioner. 5.

It is further alleged that Smt. Reshma wife of Bhollu Deen has also filed a representation to the office of the SSP, Gurdaspur (respondent No. 2) on 08.01.2024 for registration of a false case against her family members.

Learned counsel for the State upon instructions from the police official who is present in Court today to assist her, submits that the representation filed by the petitioner dated 03.01.2024 (Annexure P-2) shall be enquired into and proper action will be taken within a period of three months.

In view of the statement made by learned State counsel in Court today, this petition is disposed of.

However, it is made clear that the State shall remain bound its statement given in Court today.

The compliance report be submitted to the Registry of this Court which would thereafter, be placed before this Court. 10.

Pending miscellaneous application (s), if any, shall also stand disposed of.
