Petitioner no.1-Sarabjit Kaur and petitioner no.2-Manpreet Singh are mother-in-law and husband of one Manju daughter of Subedar Raghbir Singh residents of Village Sadana Bajigar Kulian, Tehsil and District Gurdaspur.

It is averred that said Manju by concealing her subsisting first marriage has performed marriage with Manpreet Singh-petitioner no.2 on 10.4.2016. It is stated that at the time of marriage lot of gold ornaments were also given to the girl's side by the petitioners. On finding out the truth of first marriage petitioners are alleged to have filed a criminal complaint of cheating against the girl and her family members. Petitioners also filed CRM-M 42732/2016 seeking protection of their life and liberty, which was disposed of vide order dated 30.11.2016 with a direction to the police authorities to look into the criminal complaint. Since no action was taken against said Manju and her family members petitioners filed COCP 1538/2017 which was again disposed of vide order dated 2.6.2017 on the Rajinder Parshad Joshi 2018.04.20 11:14 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

COCP 1178/2018 assurance of State counsel that previous directions shall be complied with. It is conceded that Manpreet Singh-petitioner has filed no petition seeking dissolution of marriage on the ground of alleged fraud, therefore, said Manju continues to be his legally wedded wife and thus entitled to retain her istri dhan, if any. Petitioners have also taken no recourse of filing any criminal complaint with regard to cheating. Faced with this situation, learned counsel for the petitioners prays for permission to withdraw the instant contempt petition. Dismissed as withdrawn.
