Petitioners allege that both of them are major and they got married on 4.1.2022 against the wishes of respondent Nos.4 to 7 who are related to petitioner No.1. This is their first marriage. Counsel for the petitioners submits that the aforesaid private respondents have threatened to cause harm to both the petitioners and in this regard, representation (Annexure P-4) was given on 4.1.2022 to respondent GAURAV SOROT 2022.01.10 15:06 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
( 2 ) CRWP-160-2022 No.2 but till date no action has been taken by the concerned authority in this regard.
Notice of motion.
Mr. Amandeep Singh Gill, Sr. DAG, accepts notice on behalf of the State of Punjab. He submits that the concerned authority will look into the matter and take decision on the representation of the petitioners in accordance with law.
In view of above, without going into merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 to consider representation dated 4.1.2022 (Annexure P-4) and to provide appropriate protection to the petitioners if so warranted. However, any observations made in this order will not be construed as an expression of opinion on the validity of the marriage of the petitioners.
At this stage, Mr. Khusagra Mahajan, Advocate puts in appearance through video conferencing on behalf of private respondents and simply requested to mark his presence.
